Hey all! I’ve been away for a minute! Long time no talk!
So where have I been? Ya girl got a new job!
I am an Earth and Environmental Science Teacher at a high school. This opportunity presented itself in such a fortuitous way that it could have only been God. Earlier this year I was working as a customer service agent at Charlotte Douglas Airport, while in training one of my coworkers and I were talking about our previous work experience. He starts telling me he was a teacher but he didn’t have a degree in education, my interest was piqued because I felt like that’s what I was supposed to be doing but I didn’t have the time to go back to school to get an education degree. He explains to me that North Carolina has alternative licensing options that only require me to have a bachelor's degree. I research it and he puts me in contact with some of his former colleagues. The county has a job fair and the first school I speak to is the school that’s closest to my home and they want to set up an interview!!!
I interview and get the position and they have me go to this Lateral Entry training program where they teach us classroom management, some subject specific stuff as well. So first day of school comes and OMG am I overwhelmed!!! It’s so much! There so many students, and so many things that needed to be done. But everyday I feel like I’m getting a handle on it. My students are very interesting and we’re learning each other. I never take it personally if they’re indifferent or have an ‘attitude’ because I know I’m awesome lol.
This is my classroom Before
This is my classroom After
Don't worry! Green Bean is still as awesome as always. Im adding some photos of our trip to The Discovery Museum for their Dinosaur exhibit.
I want to thank you all for your patience during this time, I hope to share some more about this new journey of teaching!
