This weeks self-care post is about how exercise is a form of self care. I honestly hate to exercise but I know that it’s good for me so I trudge through it… Sometimes. The last time I made a point to exercise was a LOOONNNGGGG time ago. I’m starting a new workout regime tomorrow and I think it will stick because I’m making it less about my summer body and more about taking care of myself.


According to the Mayo Clinic exercise is beneficial to you because:


1.Exercise improves mood

Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed.You may also feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem.

2.Exercise boosts energy

Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lung health improve, you have more energy to tackle daily chores.

3.Exercise combats health conditions and disease

No matter what your current weight, being active boosts high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or "good," cholesterol and decreases unhealthy triglycerides. This keeps your blood flowing smoothly, which decreases your risk of cardiovascular diseases.Regular exercise helps prevent or manage a wide range of health problems and concerns, including stroke, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, a number of types of cancer, and arthritis.

4. Exercise promotes better sleep

Regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep.


They suggest at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity exercise, or 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise. To track my exercises I use my FitBit and it syncs to my phone. I try to make them fun so I use workout apps like Nike Training Club or Blogilaties on Youtube both of which are free. Another way to make workouts less terrible are to enlist your friends, having support or accountability people makes anything less sucky. Self care is so important and exercise is just another way to take care of your body.
